(Phys.org)—A team of chemists working at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, at Cambridge in the UK believes they have solved the mystery of how it was possible for life to begin on Earth over four billion years ago. In their paper published in the journal Nature Chemistry, the team describes how they were able to map reactions that produced two and three-carbon sugars, amino acids, ribonucleotides and glycerol—the material necessary for metabolism and for creating the building blocks of proteins and ribonucleic acid molecules and also for allowing for the creation of lipids that form cell membranes.

Scientists have debated for years the various possibilities that could have led to life evolving on Earth, and the arguments have only grown more heated in recent years as many have suggested that it did not happen here it all, instead, it was brought to us from comets or some other celestial body. Most of the recent debate has found scientists in one of three chicken-or-the-egg first camps: RNA world advocates, metabolism-first supporters and those who believe that cell membranes must have developed first.

The chemists with this new effort believe they have found a way to show that all three arguments are both right and wrong—they believe they have found a way to show that everything necessary for life to evolve could have done so from just , hydrogen cyanide and ultraviolet light and that those  could have all existed at the same time—in their paper, they report that using just those three basic ingredients they were able to produce more than 50 nucleic acids—precursors to DNA and RNA molecules. They note that early meteorites carried with them ingredients that would react with nitrogen already in the atmosphere, producing a lot of . By dissolving in water, it could have very easily come into contact with hydrogen sulfide, while being exposed to ultraviolet light from the sun. And that, they claim, would have been all that was needed to get things going.

The findings by the team are sure to garner a great deal of interest in the scientific community and others will no doubt be testing and commenting on their findings. If what they claim passes muster, their work will likely be remembered as one of the great achievements of our time.

Comparando sistemas naturais vivos e não-vivos, anotando à parte uma lista com as milhares de diferenças e noutra lista as milhares de semelhanças, descobrí que todos os sistemas naturais – de átomos a galaxias a células vivas, foram montados por uma mesma fórmula, como se todos tenham um mesmo “DNA”, a qual denominei “Matrix/DNA Universal”. A partir da descoberta desta fórmula fui re-interpretando todas as conhecidas interpretações sobre cada fenomeno natural conhecido, desde uma simples pedra à mente humana. Nascia uma nova e nunca imaginada antes, visão do mundo- ou uma “cosmovisão”.  Depois de re-estudar todos os fenomenos conhecidos, me interessei em tentar elucidar o mistério da mente humana. partí do pressuposto de que ela nada mais é que uma nova nova forma mais evoluída de um unico sistema natural que surgiu desde o Big Bang. Tinha a informação de que os pensamentos são produzidos por sinapses no cérebro, então a figura pressuposta da mente  seria como uma nuvem protoplasmatica sendo clareada por continuos raios de eletricidade, os relampagos. À medida que um cérebro evolui, estas sinapses tornam-se mais constantes e mais vezes repetidas, de forma que no final a nuvem protoplasmatica se apresenta como pura luz. Mas se vemos a luz, porque não vemos a mente que seria feita com luz?

Isto me lançou a uma nova frenética busca: a resposta para o maior dos mistérios estava na luz. Tinha que buscar conhecer tudo o que a Humanidade já conseguiu aprender sobre ela, para ver se conseguia dar um passo à frente. Observando o reflexo de uma onda de luz na tela de um computador – o chamado espectro eletro-magnético – e tendo a fórmula da Matrix/DNA ao lado, descobrí que a sequencia de sete cores visiveis diferentes de uma onda, que resultam de sete diferentes vibrações ou frequencias de onda, seria a mesma sequencia do circuito energético que flui dentro de um sistema natural. Desde que todo sistema natural é formado por uma sequencia de peças cada qual executando uma função sistêmica universal, e estes sistemas se formam devido a um corpo unico e isolado inicial se aplicar o processo do ciclo vital, que o faz se auto-transformar em diferentes formas, justamente as sete diferentes formas das sete peças de um sistema completo perfeito, descobrí que a luz tambem cresce, se propaga, se expande, por estar sob o processo do ciclo vital. Em outras palavras, a luz é algo “vivo”, ou melhor, ela foi a primeira manifestação nas origens do Universo, no momento do Big Bang, do “código da vida”. Ou seja, a luz foi a primeira forma da Matrix/DNA.

Se este mundo começou quando ondas de luz penetraram e se espalharam num espaço cuja substancia era uma espécie de eter, ou matéria escura inerte, e se a ultima forma mais evoluida dela hoje e aqui, nesta região do Universo, é a mente humana – a qual está se tornando luz pura – conclui-se que o produto final é uma reprodução do motor inicial. Em outras palavras, este Universo, como mero conglomerado de aglomerados de galaxias é uma espécie de ovo cósmico, cheio de placenta, dentro do qual está ocorrendo um processo de reprodução natural genética, … reprodução da coisa desconhecida que gerou este Universo. Num grafico cartesiano tendo como coordenadas o tempo e o espaço, botei o sistema inicial surgido com o Big Bang a rolar ao sabor das leis e mecanismos da evolução, quando ví a linha resultante se encurvando e retornando ao ponto de partida, ao eixo central onde se encontra o tempo e o espaço. Porem o que retornava não era mais o que partira, e sim algo mais evoluído, muito mais complexo. Enfim, o que sobra é a conclusão que o sistema universal surgiu numa forma de luz e vai se liberar para alem do Universo na mesma forma de luz – cujos principios estão se desenvolvendo agora na forma da auto-consciencia humana- e provavelmente na auto-consciencia de cada outra espécie das quase infinitas que devem existir por este Universo afora.

Então o segredo todo está na luz. Na luz inicial original, pois os corpos massificados que produzem luz, como as estrelas, são meras estações repetidoras das ondas de luz que vieram ou ainda vem de uma fonte alem do Universo. Agarro-me nos calcanhares da luz assim como me agarrei empedernidamente nos calcanhares de todos os sistemas naturais na selva até descobrir a Matrix/DNA. Qualquer pesssoa que em qualquer canto do mundo abrir a boca e pronunciar a palavra “luz”, me interessa sobremaneira. Talvez ela tenha notado ou saiba algo qua ainda não percebí.  Por isso capto coisas como estes videos na Internet mencionando o nome “luz”.

Aqui registro alguns videos para sempre retornar a vê-los numa pesquisa, pois tem boas informações ou bom material para se pensar. E vou lançando estes artigos esparsos todos tendo em comum a categoria “luz”, esperando que um dia tenha tempo para rever tudo e fazer um unico artigo-tese.

This problem was solved by Matrix/DNA Theory. If light is particle or wave is dependable of the size and lifespan of the observer. An observer million times more bigger than you will not see yours body as particle, but as wave. The secret is this force called life’s cycle, and light have it too. Light is a particle and is a wave because it can be the biggest body of the Universe that it always will have the shortest lifespan. Light is visible only in relation to space, and not in relation to time, because there is no natural time, it is a human creation. Light has life like us, but has no age. That’s why light is the supreme speed. Light propagates by the same process that a living being is propagated in relation to time/space, a process called life’s cycle, which is responsible by the transformations of a unique body into several different forms. The human body can have the form of a morula, a fetus, an embryo, etc., till the shape of deceased being fragmented. The light’s body can have also seven different shapes, frequencies, vibrations, till being fragmented into photons. Each form of human body is equal to one vibration of light.

Matrix/DNA Theory shows at its website the graphic of a light wave’s electromagnetic spectrum, explaining why the wave has life’s cycle and why the conclusion that the first natural light emitted by the Big Bang contained the code for creating biological life.

Try this exercise for understanding it:  You can see Joseph just now as a particle. Now try to see a film showing the life of Joseph, during 80 years, resumed into less than a second. You will not see Joseph as a little child, neither as adult, will see no form, just a wave trace on the screen. Therefore Heisenberg was uncertain, saying that you can not see / measure a particle at the same time in relation to time and space, for any particle also has its life cycle.

The Original Double Slit Experiment

Light is so common that we rarely think about what it really is. But just over two hundred years ago, a groundbreaking experiment answered the question that had occupied physicists for centuries. Is light made up of waves or particles?

The experiment was conducted by Thomas Young and is known as Young’s Double Slit Experiment. This famous experiment is actually a simplification of a series of experiments on light conducted by Young. In a completely darkened room, Young allowed a thin beam of sunlight to pass through an aperture on his window and onto two narrow, closely spaced openings (the double slit). This sunlight then cast a shadow onto the wall behind the apparatus. Young found that the light diffracted as it passed through the slits, and then interfered with itself, created a series of light and dark spots. Since the sunlight consists of all colours of the rainbow, these colours were also visible in the projected spots. Young concluded that light consist of waves and not particles since only waves were known to diffract and interfere in exactly the manner that light did in his experiment.

The way I have always seen this experiment performed is with a laser and a manufactured double slit but since the experiment was conducted in 1801 I have always thought that it should be possible to recreate the experiment using sunlight and household materials. That is basically what I did here. I will show the interference pattern I observed with my homemade double slit on 2Veritasium but I chose to use a manufactured double slit here to ensure that the pattern was impressive for observers at the beach.

Special thanks to Veritasium for this great job. I have a suggestion for understanding what we see inside the black box. It should be the same image if we see a pair of twins growing inside a womb, in four or seven dimensions. That’s due light waves propagates by the same process that a human body propagates through time and space, the process called “life’s cycle”, which is the responsible by our bodies self-transforming into several different shapes ( ( so, light is transformed into seven different frequencies, or vibrations, or colors).  The white central sphere is the point of contact between the twins waves, the others “points”, are each organ of each twins. Onda de Luz segundo a Matrix/DNA - Eletro-Magnético Espectro de Onda.

 

Fica aqui para abrir a categoria LUZ. Junto com a pesquisa sobre a Auto-Consciência, a Luz é o maior investimento de pesquisa hoje pela Matrix/DNA, depois que descobrimos que qualquer onda de luz natural contem a forca que imprime o processo do ciclo vital na matéria. E o inicio de tudo, basta considerar, por exemplo, que do Big Bang (segundo a teoria tal como se encontra hoje) deve ter havido uma irradiação de luz que se espalhou por todo o Universo e se ainda existe a radiação cósmica pode significar que o Universo ou o Big Bang continua pulsando, emitindo ondas de luz. O fato que não a vemos com nossos olhos e atuais instrumentos é que ela deve ser tao forte que nos cega, e assim vemos a escuridão cósmica ao invés dessa luz, mas talvez já a estejamos captando quando falamos em dark matter e dark energy.     Visual organs perceive environmental stimuli required for rapid initiation of behaviors and can also entrain the circadian clock. The larval eye of Drosophila is capable of both functions. Each eye contains only 12 photoreceptors (PRs), which can be subdivided into two subtypes. Four PRs express blue-sensitive rhodopsin5 (rh5) and eight express green-sensitive rhodopsin6 (rh6). We found that either PR-subtype is sufficient to entrain the molecular clock by light, while only the Rh5-PR subtype is essential for light avoidance. Acetylcholine released from PRs confers both functions. Both subtypes of larval PRs innervate the main circadian pacemaker neurons of the larva, the neuropeptide PDF (pigment-dispersing factor)-expressing lateral neurons (LNs), providing sensory input to control circadian rhythms. However, we show that PDF-expressing LNs are dispensable for light avoidance, and a distinct set of three clock neurons is required. Thus we have identified distinct sensory and central circuitry regulating light avoidance behavior and clock entrainment. Our findings provide insights into the coding of sensory information for distinct behavioral functions and the underlying molecular and neuronal circuitry.

    LUZ Criando Vida: A Maior Descoberta de Todos Os Tempos?

    Esta descoberta aconteceu dia 03 de março de 2011, às 03;00 da manhã. Eu penso que é uma das maiores descobertas de todos os tempos. Nós e tudo o mais no Universo somos criados pela Luz!

    Já descobrí a Matriz/DNA Universal, descobrí LUCA, encontrei a fórmula para um Sistema Natural Fechado Perfeito, e muitas outras coisas mais. Mas essa da LUZ sinto que foi a descoberta mais importante de tôdas,  foi quando eu cheguei mais próximo da fonte criadora de tudo e sinto que daqui não tem mais como avançar com esta forma e inteligência precária humana.

    Será Deus? Pois quem, ou o que, criou, emitiu, a LUZ,  é a Fonte da LUZ, é o Supremo Criador!

    Um raio de luz é algo vivo! Tal como nós, humanos! Porem mais do que nós, êle é um código genético, como o DNA! Aliás, êle criou o DNA. Êle é a Matriz universal! Um raio de luz tem um período de existência e durante êsse período êle apresenta um ciclo vital. Como nós, êle passa pelas formas de embrião, bebê, criança, jovem, adulto e morre, se desfazendo em fragmentos como um cadáver! Isto é fenomenal!

    Estamos tocando as vestes de Deus! 

    A Luz é como um DNA puro que na primeira vez que se moveu na substância primordial gerou a primeira partícula, a qual já era um sistema natural, e a qual evoluiu para a forma de átomo, de galáxias, de células vivas, de plantas e animais, de homens, e agora da auto-consciência!

    Até ontem já sabiamos como foi tôda essa evolução, mas a fonte das origens permanecia desconhecida, estávamos parados nos vórtices quânticos pipocando no espaço mesmo antes do Big Bang, mas qual era a fonte dêstes vórtices, o que realmente eram êstes vórtices que já apresentavam em si as sete propriedades vitais na forma das fôrças naturais primordiais? Agora descobrimos: não são apenas vórtices, são as ondas de uma LUZ! 

    Então a LUZ existe antes do Universo! E veio de algo, de algum lugar além do Universo e já veio com a fórmula para criar tudo o que aqui existe hoje!

    É a presença de uma mensagem operativa em código, e a recente presença da auto-consciência como ultimo produto dessa evolução que não me deixa outra alternativa senão a de concluir que a FONTE dessa LUZ é uma Inteligência!

    Meu Deus… nêsse momento é indescritível o estado de maravilhamento em que me encontro! E orgulhoso; cheguei aos pés de Deus condizindo-me pela minha inteligência e no maior dos sacrifícios. Um menor abandonado que cresceu ao relento e ficou raquítico pela fome e que chega aos 50 anos sem nada, tão nu como veio ao mundo, mas foi uma luta de gigante!e a FONTE é Deus e êle está me permitindo tocar seus pés… êle porque êle testemunhou e decidiu que eu mereço.

    Perdoe-me o desabafo.

    Agora me admiro porque eu estudei a vida tôda sem parar, todas as áreas de tôdas as Ciências mas exatamente quando chegava na Física da LUZ eu não me aprofundava, passava por cima. Tinha o pré-julgamento que a luz é algo tão imaterial, tão intocável, abstrato, que ela não deveria ter nenhuma influência importante nas origens e evolução. Quantas vêzes me passou perante a cara o gráfico do espectro eletro-magnético e nunca lhe dediquei mais que um piscar do olhar! Mas o segrêdo supremo estava ali! Só fui olhar com curiosidade para o gráfico ontem quando lia o artigo abaixo e o autor disse a palavra “biofóton”. Biofóton… era a mesma imagem, a mesma solução que meus calculos haviam produzidos e aos quais denominei “genes semivivos”. Oriundos da radiação estelar. O circuito do ciclo vital estava flutuando em minha mente quando olhei o gráfico e de repente, tudo se esclareceu…

    A LUZ! A chama criadora de Deus! seja êle um ser onipotente ou ser natural, mortal, tão frágil como eu, mas assim o amaria ainda mais! Assim o perdoaria tudo, como Pai e/ou Mãe ausente e irresponsável que tem sido.  o Perdoarei e o amarei se sempre continuar ausente, porque errar é do natural. Porque é o meu criador, o que me gerou, o carrego em minhas veias, e isso basta saber.      

    Observe a figura acima. O Espectro eletro-magnético, ou seja, o campo da  LUZ, é uma onda que se amplifica formando ondas sucessivas, e isto é registrado no gráfico na forma da linha serpenteante. Tudo começa com uma fonte, que produza uma vibração. No inicio a frequência da luz é a mais elevada e a linha avança diminuindo a intensidade de vibração. Mas seja em qualquer meio que ela se propaga, digamos, no éter, as mudanças de frequência geram as várias côres, em primeiro lugar. Mas se propagando em alguma substância mais densa, estas mudanças produzem efeitos diferentes, profundos, na substância. essa substância, seja éter, matéria escura, amnion universal, ou mesmo matéria mais densa, vai sendo modelada e apresentando o que na sua dimensão representa as formas de feto, criança, adulto, ou seja, é animada por um ciclo vital.

    Antes já tinha percebido como a Natureza gera um novo sistema natural, seja um átomo, uma galáxia, ou uma célula. Ela dispõe inicialmente de uma porção qualquer de substancia informe, como por exemplo, de poeira estelar. Adensando gravitalmente se no espaço sideral ou pela força de atração entre os fragmentos da substância se na ausencia de gravitação, e formando uma espécie de bolota qualquer ela lhe aplica a dinâmica do ciclo vital, o qual está bem explicito na fórmula da Matriz/DNA. Sob o ciclo vital a esfera se transforma a cada momento como nosso corpo se transforma tôdo segundo quando morre uma célua ou desaparece uma partícula, ou surge outra. Assim a forma original apresenta diversas diferentes formas que são fractais derivados de uma matriz inicial. mas a natureza não faz isso apenas uma vez. Ela faz muitas bolotas e mistura-as espalhando-as no espaço. De maneira que a probabilidade de que diferentes individuos que se encontram num mesmo local e num mesmo momento apresentando as diferentes formas físicas se conectam e formam um sistema. Assim um unico micro-organismo pode ter nascido na forma de um lisossomo, cresceu e tinha a forma de ribossomo, o qual continuou  e apresentou a forma de mitocondria, se encontraram vários dêles e em diferentes idades numa sôpa primordial qualquer e por simbiose se interconectaram dando origem ao primeiro sistema celular, o primeiro ser vivo!

    Não olhe e não pense na luz artificial da lâmpada. Nem mesmo preste culto ainda á luz natural do Sol. Esta é uma herdeira, uma descendente muito distante, depois de incontáveis gerações. Pense na primeira. Quando a Luz chegou e ainda aqui tudo eram trevas.  

    Raios, lá se vão não sei quantas noites sem dormir e não me lembro agora a quantos dias tive uma refeição normal. Para que continuar esquentando a cabeça para saber como explicar a quem vai receber tudo isso de mão beijada? Que vá nas formas aqui mesmo nêste site e entenda o resto. Para mim chega: o Universo está desvendado! Não há mais a minima brecha na sua História Total, de 13.7 bilhões de anos. Ainda fui um pouco mais alem disso, antes dêle nascer. Já tenho a idéia para onde isto vai. Agora só resta conhecer a FONTE. Mas esta, tudo indica, está muito aquém da minha capacidade. Serei louco se emprregar o resto da vida nessa busca.     Is the DNA the Next Internet? Are humans really beings of light?

    I get lots of suggestions for stories, and I really appreciate them. But some of them are too good to be true. An example of this was a story of a giant human skeleton — maybe 40 feet tall — that was discovered by a Russian archaeological team. The story had photos and links accompanying it and looked promising. But when the links were researched they went in a circle. Each link used the other link as the source. Finally the elements of the photos turned up and we recognized a good Photoshop job had fooled everyone.

    I had this same experience this week when I was sent an article where a Russian (again) scientist, Pjotr Garjajev, had managed to intercept communication from a DNA molecule in the form of ultraviolet photons — light! What’s more, he claimed to have captured this communication from one organism (a frog embryo) with a laser beam and then transmitted it to another organisms DNA (a salamander embryo), causing the latter embryo to develop into a frog!

    But this was just the beginning.

    Dr. Garjajev claims that this communication is not something that happens only inside the individual cells or between one cell and another. He claims organisms use this “light” to “talk” to other organisms and suggested that this could explain telepathy and ESP. It was like human beings already had their own wireless internet based on our DNA. Wow!

    I tried to find a scientific journal that had this experiment. All I could find were blogs and other websites that carried the same story, word for word, without any references. That is until I stumbled on the work of Fritz-Albert Popp. Then everything I had just read seemed very plausible.

    Fritz-Albert Popp thought he had discovered a cure for cancer. I’m not convinced that he didn’t.

    It was 1970, and Popp, a theoretical biophysicist at the University of Marburg in Germany, had been teaching radiology — the interaction of electromagnetic (EM) radiation on biological systems. Popp was too early to worry about things like cellphones and microwave towers which are now commonly linked with cancers and leukemia. His world was much smaller.

    He’d been examining two almost identical molecules: benzo[a]pyrene, a polycyclic hydrocarbon known to be one of the most lethal carcinogens to humans, and its twin (save for a tiny alteration in its molecular makeup), benzo[e]pyrene. He had illuminated both molecules with ultraviolet (UV) light in an attempt to find exactly what made these two almost identical molecules so different.

    Why Ultra-violet light?

    Popp chose to work specifically with UV light because of the experiments of a Russian biologist named Alexander Gurwitsch who, while working with onions in 1923, discovered that roots could stimulate a neighboring plant’s roots if the two adjacent plants were in quartz glass pots but not if they were in silicon glass pots. The only difference being that the silicon filtered UV wavelengths of light while the quartz did not. Gurwitsch theorized that onion roots could communicate with each other by ultraviolet light.

    Palo Alto, CA— Plants are very sensitive to light conditions because light is their source of energy and also a signal that activates the special photoreceptors that regulate growth, metabolism, and physiological development. Scientists believe that these light signals control plant growth and development by activating or inhibiting plant hormones. New research from Carnegie plant biologists has altered the prevailing theory on how light signals and hormones interact. Their findings could have implications for food crop production.
    It was previously known that a plant hormone called brassinosteroid is essential for plant’s responses to light signals. This crucial steroid-type hormone is found throughout the plant kingdom and regulates many aspects of growth and development. Surprising new research from a team led by Carnegie plant biologist Zhi-Yong Wang shows that light does not control the level of brassinosteroid found in plants as was expected. Instead brassinosteroid dictates the light-sensitivity of the plant. It does this by controlling the production of a key light-responsive protein.

    The team’s findings on interactions between brassinosteroid and light in sprouting seedlings have changed the prevailing model for understanding the relationship between light conditions and hormone signals in regulating photosynthesis and growth. Their results are published in Developmental Cell on December 14.
    While under the soil’s surface, in the dark, plant seedlings grow in a special way that speeds the process of pushing the budding stem out into the air, while simultaneously protecting it from damage. This type of growth is called skotomorphogenesis. Once exposed to light, seedlings switch to a different, more regular, type of growth, called photomorphogenesis, during which the lengthening of the stem is inhibited and the leaves expand and turn green.
    Many components are involved in this developmental switch, including brassinosteroid. Previous studies showed that mutant plants created to be deficient in brassinosteroid grew as if they were in the light, even when in the dark. Research also showed that many genes responded to stimulation from light and brassinosteroid in opposite ways. But scientists were unsure how this antagonistic process worked, especially after they found the levels of brassinosteroid in plant cells were not significantly different between plants grown in the dark or in the light.

    The Carnegie team’s new research identifies a protein called GATA2 as a missing link in this communications system. This protein tells developing seedlings which type of growth to pursue.
    GATA2 is part of the GATA factor class of proteins, which are found in plants, fungi and many animals. GATA factors promote the construction of a variety of new proteins, the recipes for which are encoded in DNA. It does this by switching on and off different genes. In Arabidopsis, the experimental mustard plant used in this study, there are 29 genes for different members of the GATA factor family. Some of these have been demonstrated to play a role in flower development, the metabolism of carbon and nitrogen, and the production of the green pigment chlorophyll.
    Wang’s team found that GATA2 switches on many genes that are turned on by light but turned off by brassinosteroid. It then showed that brassinosteroid inhibits the production of GATA2 and light stabilizes the presence of GATA2 protein in plant cells.

    First, the team showed that GATA2 functions to turn on select plant growth genes in the presence of light. The scientists genetically manipulated Arabidopsis plants to cause the GATA2 protein to be overproduced. As a result, the plants started to show patterns of growing in light, even when they were in the dark. This manipulation demonstrates that GATA2 is a major promoter of light-type growth.

    What’s more, this is the same reaction that was produced when plants were genetically manipulated to be brassinosteroid-deficient. This means that the over abundance of GATA2 had the same result as the scarcity of brassinosteroids. These results show that GATA2 proteins and brassinosteroid hormones have antagonistic effects on developing plants.
    Next, the Carnegie team showed that brassinosteroid is actually involved in inhibiting the actions of GATA2. Brassinosteroids turn on a protein that prevents GATA2 from working when the seedling is in the dark. This inhibition of GATA2 is stopped by exposure to light. This likely happens due to the involvement of yet another protein—one that is widely involved in light-signaling— although further study is needed to be sure.
    Together all these results show that GATA2 is an important factor in signaling light-type growth. It also serves as a communications junction between internal plant systems that are turned on by light and those that are turned on by brassinosteroids.
    “Brassinosteroids and light antagonistically regulate the level of GATA2 activity, and thus the creation of proteins stimulated by GATA2,” says Wang. “As a result, GATA2 represents a key junction of crosstalk between brassinosteroid and light signaling pathways.”
    The framework created by this research leaves plenty of avenues for further study of the various components of light signaling in plants. Some other members of the GATA class of proteins may be involved, as well as other light (?)-

    Phycocyanin is a pigment from the light-harvesting phycobiliprotein family, along with allophycocyanin and phycoerythrin. It is an accessory pigment to chlorophyll. All phycobiliproteins are water-soluble and therefore cannot exist within the membrane as do carotenoids, but aggregate forming clusters that adhere to the membrane called phycobilisomes. Phycocyanin is a characteristic light blue colour, absorbing orange and red light, particularly near 620 nm (depending on which specific type it is), and emits fluorescence at about 650 nm (also depending on which type it is). Allophycocyanin absorbs and emits at longer wavelengths than Phycocyanin C or Phycocyanin R. Phycocyanins are found in Cyanobacteria (previously called blue-green algae). Phycobiliproteins have fluorescent properties that are used in immunoassay kits.  The product phycocyanin, produced by Aphanizomenon flos-aquae and Spirulina, is used in the food and beverage industry as a natural coloring agent ‘Lina Blue’ and is found in sweets and ice cream.

    Researchers at the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) have induced light rays to behave in a way that defies the laws of reflection and refraction – and produced some weird fun-house images on the way.

    The discovery has meant a rewriting of the rule books for the centuries-old mathematical laws that predict the path of a ray of light bouncing off a surface or traveling from one medium into another.

    “Using designer surfaces, we’ve created the effects of a fun-house mirror on a flat plane,” says co-principal investigator Federico Capasso.

    “Our discovery carries optics into new territory and opens the door to exciting developments in photonics technology.”

    The conventional laws governing the way light moves from one medium to another – from air to glass, say – predict the angles of reflection and refraction based only on the incident (incoming) angle and the properties of the two media.

    But while studying the behavior of light impinging on surfaces patterned with metallic nanostructures, the researchers realized that the usual equations didn’t cover the bizarre phenomena observed in the lab.

    Essentially, the group’s discovered that the boundary between two media, if specially patterned, can itself behave like a third medium.

    “Ordinarily, a surface like the surface of a pond is simply a geometric boundary between two media, air and water,” explains Nanfang Yu, a research associate in Capasso’s lab.

    “But now, in this special case, the boundary becomes an active interface that can bend the light by itself.”

    What makes the difference is an array of tiny gold antennas etched into the surface of the silicon used in Capasso’s lab and structured on a scale much thinner than the wavelength of the light hitting it.
    This means that, unlike in a conventional optical system, the engineered boundary between the air and the silicon imparts an abrupt phase shift – a phase discontinuity – to the crests of the light wave crossing it.

    Each antenna in the array is a tiny resonator that can trap the light for a given amount of time before releasing it. A gradient of different types of nanoscale resonators across the surface of the silicon can effectively bend the light before it even begins to propagate through the new medium.

    The resulting phenomenon breaks the old rules, creating beams of light that reflect and refract in arbitrary ways, depending on the surface pattern.

    The textbooks now need to be changed, adding a new term to the equations – the gradient of phase shifts imparted at the boundary.
    “By incorporating a gradient of phase discontinuities across the interface, the laws of reflection and refraction become designer laws, and a panoply of new phenomena appear,” says Zeno Gaburro, a visiting scholar in Capasso’s group.

    “The reflected beam can bounce backward instead of forward. You can create negative refraction. There is a new angle of total internal reflection.”
