That’s prediction of Matrix/DNA Theory also. Applying biology and physics for understanding the Universe, Matrix/DNA suggests that the function of this Universe is genetic reproduction ex-machine, the conglomerate of galaxies works like placenta(which always falls apart)and the final baby will be pure consciousness.

Domina o pensamento cientifico moderno a crença de que a Vida surgiu simplesmente de reações químicas da matéria inanimada. Essa crença comanda os rumos da Ciência e inspira os tipos de experimentos visando comprova-la. E geralmente se acha o que se procura… ou ao menos o que se parece com o que se procura. A Ciência só acha algo fora dessa visão de mundo, algo que não estava procurando, por acidente. Portanto, se houver a crença de que o mundo é cor de rosa, vai-se descobrir em todos os níveis da evolução tudo o que é cor de rosa e monta-se um Universo inteiro e funcionando, pensando-se que se descobriu tudo, enquanto tudo o que for das outras cores e o real completo funcionamento, será ignorado. É por isso que Hawking levou a matemática numa direção ao extremo que terminou por ver apenas o buraco negro que se forma dentro de qualquer vórtice no espaço. Nesta experiência aqui relatada, temos um notável exemplo de como ignoram o que foi o mais importante resultado.

A experiência agora, na tentativa de ver vida surgindo da não- vida, consistiu no seguinte:

Pegaram hematita (um composto de ferro e oxigênio) como as partículas básicas, e adicionaram um polímero esférico “coat”. Em seguida aplicaram luz azul nessa mistura, e as partículas começaram a se moverem, primeiro se separando e depois se reunindo numa maneira igual se comporta  as moléculas e matéria viva. No link acima apresentam um vídeo filmando a experiência.

Os cientistas disseram que o objetivo era “estudar como comportamentos complicados coletivos emergem de simples propriedades individuais. Agora nós mostramos que com um sistema ativo simples podemos reproduzir algumas características de sistemas vivos”.

O QUE DIZ A MATRIX/DNA

Antes de minha análise, é preciso corrigir um grave erro. Não foi mostrado um “sistema” ativo, e sim, apenas um processo. Sistema é algo muito mais complicado que simples atração ou rejeição entre elementos, sistema e um conjunto de partes conectadas exercendo todas as funções universais… as que também imprimem o ciclo vital nestes conjuntos. Acertado isso, a conclusão dos cientistas sobre o experimento chegaria a ser irônica, se não se tratasse de nossos heróis e seus equívocos. Estão vendo apenas a mistura, seus elementos, e ignorando o instrumento que esta penetrando as partículas e movendo-as segundo seus desígnios: a luz azul!

A luz azul é apenas uma das faixas de frequências de um raio incidente de luz, portanto, ela fará todas as substancias vibrarem na mesma frequência depois que vencer as vibrações especificas anteriores que dominavam cada substancia, por isso primeiro ela separa. E depois as junta numa mesma sintonia. Como as sete principais propriedades da Vida são produtos das sete principais frequências da luz, esta claro que o composto apresentara uma propriedade vital, mais as propriedades que porventura já existiam nas reações químicas mais simples.

Repete-se agora a mesma cena que aconteceu comigo na selva amazônica 30 anos atrás. Enquanto os químicos positivistas e eu estávamos ajoelhados no chão movendo a lama de pântanos procurando o cepo primitivo comum que deflagrou a vida na Terra, notei que a luz do sol me queimava os miolos e não podia deixar de pensar nela. E então comecei a pensar no quanto a luz influi na vida, quanto ela incidia naquela lama, levantei os olhos para o céu e num estalo vi o cepo. LUCA, o Last Universal Common Ancestor era gigantesco e estava no céu, e não no pântano. Agora também estão se se esquecendo de ver a luz, o mais importante elemento na experiência.

Foi sem duvida um grande trabalho e estamos agradecendo mais este grande passo na busca de conhecimento da Humanidade. Mas enquanto o pensamento moderno cientifico comemora porque acredita que isto fortaleceu sua teoria, nos, da Matrix/DNA, comemoramos porque também cremos que fortaleceu a nossa teoria. Não importa que sairá perdendo: o que interessa é que a Humanidade saiu ganhando.

by Sarah Nicholls, Physicists at NYC University have this month published the results of their experiment on the lifelike behaviours of a newly-synthesized chemical compound. The scientists’ aim was to investigate self-organizing collective behaviours such as those seen in flocks of birds and schools of fish. They stated that the goal of the work was “to study how complicated collective behaviors arise from simple individual properties”.

Taking hematite (a compound of iron and oxygen) as the particle basis, they added a spherical polymer coat. Leaving a corner of the hematite particle exposed and subjecting the compound to blue light, the particles began moving, breaking apart and reforming in a ‘lifelike’ manner. The physicists have uploaded this clip displaying the behaviour of the “light-activated colloidal surfers.”

One of the physicists involved, Chaikin acknowledges that a definition of life is a difficult one to make. He comments that one definition of life is possessing metabolism, the ability to self-replicate and the ability to move and that the ‘colloidal surfers’ satisfy two of these criteria. They lack only the ability to self-replicate. Fellow physicist Palacci highlights the blurred boundaries between what can be classified as ‘living’ and what may be called ‘not living’ when he says “Here we show that with a simple, synthetic active system, we can reproduce some features of living systems…I do not think this makes our systems alive, but it stresses the fact that the limit between the two is somewhat arbitrary.”

With a better comprehension of the process at work, scientists could create new and improved materials. Substances including paint, milk, gelatin, glass, and porcelain are all made up of colloidal dispersions and could potentially be organized in a biological manner. This process could also be implemented in the make up of electronic products.

A bit of advice, should this ever come up: be wary of dubious physics theories. They can lead to murder.

In 1952, Bayard Peakes submitted a 33-page manuscript to a publication of the American Physical Society (APS).

Peakes had an unusual idea. He didn’t believe electrons existed, and he had what he thought was a good explanation of why.

But the APS rejected his paper, deeming it “pointless”.

Evidently, Peakes was fairly upset by this. He bought a gun and travelled to the APS offices in New York in search of the editor who had spurned him.

When he found that the editor was not around, he shot the APS’ 18-year-old secretary instead.

Peakes had given macabre new meaning to the phrase “dangerous idea”, and unwittingly started a practice that continues today.

“What we decided was that from then on, any member of the APS could submit an abstract on any subject to any meeting,” said Brian Schwartz of the City University of New York, a longtime APS member and former chair of the society’s Forum on Physics and Society.

“In the late 1960s during the height of the Vietnam war, people were submitting the peace symbol. I submitted abstracts about the job problem,” he told BBC News.

And of course, he said, “there were always crackpot submissions.”

‘Big questions’

Much of physics dances around the really big questions – what is stuff ultimately made of, when did the Universe begin, how will it end, and so on – the kinds of questions that invite theories and speculation from all corners of humanity.

And when someone can couch their pet theory in the language of mathematics, sometimes it can just about pass for physics proper.

‘Crazy’ ideas that turned out to be right

  • In 1633, Galileo Galilei was accused of heresy for promoting the Copernican theory, which suggested that the Earth revolved around the sun. This challenged the long held view that the Earth was stationary at the centre of the universe. It eventually become the accepted model of the solar system.
  • In 1859, Charles Darwin presented the theory that species evolve gradually with time, adapting to their environment. Darwin’s theory was vehemently attacked, particularly by the Church, as it implied that the Earth had not been created perfectly. However, his ideas soon gained currency and have become the new orthodoxy.
  • Over a century ago it was widely believed that the Earth’s continents were fixed in position. But in 1914, after noticing that South America could fit into Africa like a jigsaw puzzle, meteorologist Alfred Wegener proposed that they were once joined together but had gradually drifted apart. Many scientists ridiculed his idea that continents ‘ploughed’ through the Earth’s crust like a ship through pack ice. His ideas were accepted in the 1960s, when the weight of evidence proved impossible to ignore.

Conference organisers have to thematically group hundreds or even thousands of submissions into sessions containing just a few presentations each.

How to give voice to the more… let’s call them speculative physics submissions among them?

Put them in sessions all to themselves.

“We can’t promise you an audience, we can only give you a microphone and a room. And I think that’s important,” said Virginia Trimble of the University of California Irvine, who has held positions within the APS for decades.

“I’m a great believer that this is a valuable policy, and I quite often volunteer to chair the sessions of that kind,” she told BBC News.

“That kind”: the sessions have titles and timings that change from year to year, so that it’s not always obvious to the contributors just what kind of session they’re presenting to.

“Sometimes crackpots regard each other as crackpots, and are annoyed at being placed in that session,” said a chairperson of one such session at this year’s April meeting – who should probably remain nameless.

But physics – some of the really tricky stuff – can be so mathematically dense that even the organisers slip up.

Prof Schwartz said that some researchers submit perfectly mainstream work to the meetings, but perhaps sell it badly.

“Sometimes they’ll say, ‘hey, you put me in with all the crazy papers’,” he said.

Two-way street

This isn’t just about humouring those who have fringe ideas; there is a two-way exchange going on, said co-chair of the APS April meeting Jonathan Rosner of the University of Chicago.

“The reason for having these presentations is that there is a possibility that someone might get some constructive criticism, they might get some redirection that would put them onto (more accepted ideas),” he told BBC News.

“And students who attend might learn to distinguish the chaff from the wheat – it’s a good experience for them to be exposed to this now and then.

“Or the (presenters) may have, through very unlikely means, come upon something but they just don’t have the language to connect with us, and we wouldn’t want to dismiss something like that.”

That last possibility is a compelling one. Take the case of Dan Shechtman, who in 1982 stumbled across an entirely new kind of crystal, but couldn’t really explain it. He became known around the “unconventional” sessions at APS meetings.

“For two years I did not have anybody who believed my results and was usually ridiculed,” he told APS News in 2003.

Clarity eventually came, and with it credibility. Prof Shechtman’s work ended up winning him the 2011 Nobel prize for Chemistry.

However, such transformations are rare.

About half of those who present work in the unconventional sessions are repeat visitors – determined to come back year after year and finally convince the community of their grand ideas.

Another session chair told BBC News that “it costs these guys a lot of money – you wish undergraduates could be so engaged”.

Prof Trimble added: “Once in a while somebody has the glimmerings of a right idea – although quite often it’s already out there in the mainstream community under slightly different language,” she said.

“But some of them are certifiable and you just sort of back off very gently and find somebody tall to stand behind.”

One wonders what it might have been like to run into Bayard Peakes at an APS meeting.

Yet, the chance to put such researchers on the right track and to hone students’ critical skills are enough to convince everyone here that the sessions are a good idea.

And as Prof Schwartz put it, there is always the chance of another story like Prof Shechtman’s.

“There are times that something is so ahead of its time, or someone writes it so poorly… that some people can appreciate it and others think it’s a little cuckoo,” he said.

Novas descobertas suportam a teoria que massivos eventos vulcânicos dividiu Pangeia e dramaticamente mudaram o clima terrestre, resultando na maior mudança biológica da historia do planeta, criando as condições para a emergência e crescimento dos dinossauros. Esta novidade é mais um grande argumento em favor da Matrix/DNA Theory. Segundo a Matrix/DNA, na Terra a historia da biologia, desde abiogêneses ate o macaco, foi um processo de reprodução genética do sistema astronômico “LUCA”, dentro do qual a “vida” surgiu. As informações vindas de LUCA funcionam como seus genes, na forma de fótons, resultantes das reações nucleares do planeta mais a radiação do Sol. Estes fótons são emitidos na ordem das funções de LUCA, ou seja, estes astros possuem varias camadas sedimentadas como as camadas de uma cebola e os fótons vão sendo emitidos desde a camada 1, para a 2, etc. Quando termina uma camada, grandes mudanças acontecem nos seres vivos, pois o mecanismo é o mesmo que faz um feto mudar para forma de embrião. Não apenas a poluição do ar, mudanças climáticas, destroem espécies, mas a nova onda de diferentes fótons podem alterar formas de espécies. A evolução não foi dirigida apenas pelos mecanismos de Darwin (variação, seleção natural, herança ), mas também com períodos de pontuação equilibrada como disse Jay Gold, e as causas vieram de uma dimensão mais profunda e complexa.

Se o Cicero e o Gustavo tiverem um tempo sobrando e tiverem a curiosidade sobre as mais profundas causas e origens do ritmo circadiano e relogio biologico, sugiro darem uma espiada nos artigos abaixo, pois estou pesquisando tudo isso por uma abordagem diferente de tudo que se tem feito. A configuracao atomica e molecular de um par horizontal de nucleotideos imita a exata configuracao dos astros que compõem uma galáxia original e tenho notado que ambos funcionam com os mesmos mecanismos, o que sugere uma conexão complexa entre macro e micros fractais. Great! Now human beings will pay attention to models of Matrix/DNA Theory, which designed a model of astronomic system for our galaxy that predicted this result 30 years ago: the basic elements came from clouds of stars and meteorites. Researchers synthesized the basic ingredients of RNA, a molecule from which the simplest self-replicating structures are made. Until now, they couldn’t explain how these ingredients might have formed.

“It’s like molecular choreography, where the molecules choreograph their own behavior,” said organic chemist John Sutherland of the University of Manchester, co-author of a study in Nature Wednesday.

Scientists think RNA existed early in Earth’s history, providing a necessary intermediate platform between pre-biotic chemicals and DNA, its double-stranded, more-stable descendant.

O fosfato tem a função de ponte conectadora entre duas formas do mesmo corpo, essas pontes são representadas na formula da Matrix pelas setas do circuito esferico, são os espaços entre as partículas, que são apenas o aspecto onda da luz, que imprime o tempo do ciclo vital. As Pontes de Fosfato: Como e porque surgiram

No céu, LUCA morria (ou ainda morre, se ainda existe) quando o circuito chegava na função 7 e se fragmentava. Essa poeira formava uma nuvem no espaço que girava rotacionalmente sobre seu próprio centro devido o movimento rotacional do todo em que se encontrava, talvez uma galáxia, ou talvez o próprio Universo. Isto criava um vórtice central e os fragmentos de LUCA, funcionando como genes, reconstruíam LUCA. Isto era auto-reciclagem dos sistemas perfeitos fechados em si mesmos. Assim LUCA, mesmo condenado a morrer pela forca degeneradora da entropia, se tornava quase-eterno. Mas o colapso interno destes genes, que começava pela periferia do sistema já na função 6, com a radiação estelar, fazia com que os primeiros genes decaidos ainda encontrassem em seu caminho na direção do centro, outros corpos existentes, na forma de planetas, e agregados a superfície destes, reiniciavam sua reprodução. Como agora a paisagem e condições ambientais eram diferentes do espaço vazio onde LUCA fora formado, houveram as mutações e ao invés dos genes reconstruírem o LUCA astronômico construíram o LUCA biológico, ou seja o sistema celular. Com essa evasão de genes a auto-reciclagem não mais funcionou e por fim LUCA pode ter morrido de fato. Os outros genes que vinham depois, ao inves de LUCA so tinham informações para construírem sistemas solares, faltando quasares, buracos negros, pulsares, cometas. O qual deve ser o caso dos sistemas solares modernos, como o nosso. Mas o elemento, a força que invisivelmente unia o LUCA morto com o novo LUCA vivo na auto-reciclagem, que era executada principalmente por cometas na função 5 , se tornou em biologia a base uracila, a única base intermitente no RNA que aparece e desaparece, como o cometa so aparece na fase de reprodução sexual do LUCA astronômico. Quando presente ela faz os ribonucleotideos, que são as unidades fundamentais de informação do RNA, e os pares horizontais de nucleotideos, que são as unidades fundamentais de informação do DNA, se multiplicarem, ou seja, ev o processo da auto-reciclagem mutado para multiplicação de nucleotídeos, o que faz a pilha deles, chamada RNA ou DNA, crescer. Mas como ligar um sistema fixo a outro sistema também fixo, quimicamente… A ponte de fosfato, que esta nas hastes. Esta ponte surge aplicando-se o mecanismo dos sistemas para criarem extensões em seus corpos, na forma de tentáculos, bracos e mãos, para agarrarem alimento ou transporte. Aqui o mecanismo foi usado no esforço do LUCA biológico de continuar sua auto-reciclagem, mutado para multiplicação linear, mas que de certa forma representa o mesmo processo de LUCA no ceur.  aos grupos em diferentes lugares e épocas por isso reconstroem pedaços de LUCA, o que formam os aminoácidos e proteínas, e os componentes separados de ribonucleotideos e nucleotídeos. Estes elementos são o açúcar, as bases guanina, timina, citosina, adenina e a intermitente uracila. Cada elemento representa uma das formas do corpo de LUCA, cada qual executando uma função sistêmica. Mas em seguida grupos de genes podem se encontrarem numa mesma sopa química e ocorre uma atracao automática entre eles no sentido de reconstruírem LUCA. Entao o grupo que consiste na base nitrogenada que representa a função 3, tendera a se conectar a direita com a base da função 2 e a esquerda com a base da função 4. Para fazer essa conexão criam de si uma extensão, um tentáculo, que quando alcanca sua base procurada, torna-se uma ponte fixa entre as duas. Já não e mais o caso de unir dois sistemas, como foi no caso da ponte de fosfato, mas sim de unir duas etapas do ciclo vital dentro de um único sistema.

A Origem das Pontes de Hidrogênio no DNA

As pontes de hidrogênio representam as setas entre funções na formula da Matrix.

Porque não estava se formando  os ribonucleotideos: porque em LUCA o corpo da função 1 (um quasar contendo o vórtice nuclear) liga-se num circuito esférico com a função 7 a direita e função 2 a esquerda. Quando LUCA astronômico se reproduz com a mutação para biológico, o circuito esférico continua, porem, ovalando-se e horizontalizando-se. E as ondas do tempo, que são as setas na formula, quando se horizontaliza, torna-se pontes de hidrogênio. São duas bases nitrogenadas a fase biologica

Sutherland’s team took a different approach in what Harvard molecular biologist Jack Szostak called a “synthetic tour de force” in an accompanying commentary in Nature.

“By changing the way we mix the ingredients together, we managed to make ribonucleotides,” said Sutherland. “The chemistry works very effectively from simple precursors, and the conditions required are not distinct from what one might imagine took place on the early Earth.”

 

Like other would-be nucleotide synthesizers, Sutherland’s team included phosphate in their mix, but rather than adding it to sugars and nucleobases, they started with an array of even simpler molecules that were probably also in Earth’s primordial ooze.

They mixed the molecules in water, heated the solution, then allowed it to evaporate, leaving behind a residue of hybrid, half-sugar, half-nucleobase molecules. To this residue they again added water, heated it, allowed it evaporate, and then irradiated it.

At each stage of the cycle, the resulting molecules were more complex. At the final stage, Sutherland’s team added phosphate. “Remarkably, it transformed into the ribonucleotide!” said Sutherland.

According to Sutherland, these laboratory conditions resembled those of the life-originating “warm little pond” hypothesized by Charles Darwin if the pond “evaporated, got heated, and then it rained and the sun shone.”

Such conditions are plausible, and Szostak imagined the ongoing cycle of evaporation, heating and condensation providing “a kind of organic snow which could accumulate as a reservoir of material ready for the next step in RNA synthesis.”

Intriguingly, the precursor molecules used by Sutherland’s team have been identified in interstellar dust clouds and on meteorites.

“Ribonucleotides are simply an expression of the fundamental principles of organic chemistry,” said Sutherland. “They’re doing it unwittingly. The instructions for them to do it are inherent in the structure of the precursor materials. And if they can self-assemble so easily, perhaps they shouldn’t be viewed as complicated.”

An Intuitive Explanation of Quantum Mechanics

This is one of several shortened indices into the Quantum Physics Sequence.  It is intended for students who are having trouble grasping the meaning of quantum math; or for people who want to learn the simple math of everything and are getting around to quantum mechanics.

There’s a widespread belief that quantum mechanics is supposed to be confusing.  This is not a good frame of mind for either a teacher or a student.  Complicated math can be difficult but it is never, ever allowed to be confusing.

And I find that legendarily “confusing” subjects often are not really all that complicated as math, particularly if you just want a very basic – but still mathematical – grasp on what goes on down there.

This series takes you as far into quantum mechanics as you can go with only algebra.  Any further and you should get a real physics textbook – once you know what all the math means.

 

  • Quantum Explanations: Quantum mechanics doesn’t deserve its fearsome reputation.  If you tell people something is supposed to be mysterious, they won’t understand it.  It’s human intuitions that are “strange” or “weird”; physics itself is perfectly normal.  Talking about historical erroneous concepts like “particles” or “waves” is just asking to confuse people; present the real, unified quantum physics straight out.  The series will take a strictly realist perspective – quantum equations describe something that is real and out there.
  • Configurations and Amplitude: A preliminary glimpse at the stuff reality is made of.  The classic split-photon experiment with half-silvered mirrors.  Alternative pathways the photon can take, can cancel each other out.  The mysterious measuring tool that tells us the relative squared moduli.
  • Joint Configurations: The laws of physics are inherently over mathematical entities, configurations, that involve multiple particles.  A basic, ontologically existent entity, according to our current understanding of quantum mechanics, does not look like a photon – it looks like a configuration of the universe with “A photon here, a photon there.” Amplitude flows between these configurations can cancel or add; this gives us a way to detect which configurations are distinct.
  • Distinct Configurations: Since configurations are over the combined state of all the elements in a system, adding a sensor that detects whether a particle went one way or the other, becomes a new element of the system that can make configurations “distinct” instead of “identical”.  This confused the living daylights out of early quantum experimenters, because it meant that things behaved differently when they tried to “measure” them.  But it’s not only measuring instruments that do the trick – any sensitive physical element will do.  There is no need to suppose that the universe cares what we think.
  • Can You Prove Two Particles Are Identical?:  You wouldn’t think that it would be possible to do an experiment that told you that two particles are completely identical – not just to the limit of experimental precision, butperfectly.  But quantum mechanics makes it easy.
  • Classical Configuration Spaces: How to visualize the state of a system of two 1-dimensional particles, as a single point in 2-dimensional space.  A preliminary step before moving into…
  • The Quantum Arena: Instead of a system state being associated with a single point in a classical configuration space, the instantaneous real state of a quantum system is a complex amplitude distribution over a quantum configuration space.  What creates the illusion of “individual particles”, like an electron caught in a trap, is a plaid distribution – one that happens to factor into the product of two parts.  It is the whole distribution that evolves when a quantum system evolves. Individual configurations don’t have physics; amplitude distributions have physics.
  • Feynman Paths: Instead of thinking that a photon takes a single straight path through space, we can regard it as taking all possible paths through space, and adding the amplitudes for every possible path.  Nearly all the paths cancel out – unless we do clever quantum things, so that some paths add instead of canceling out.  Then we can make light do funny tricks for us, like reflecting off a mirror in such a way that the angle of incidence doesn’t equal the angle of reflection.  But ordinarily, nearly all the paths except an extremely narrow band, cancel out – this is one of the keys to recovering the hallucination of classical physics.
  • No Individual Particles: One of the chief ways to confuse yourself while thinking about quantum mechanics, is to think as if photons were little billiard balls bouncing around.
  • Decoherence: A quantum system that factorizes can evolve into a system that doesn’t factorize, destroying the illusion of independence.  But entangling a quantum system with its environment, can appear to destroy entanglements that are already present.  Entanglement with the environment can separate out the pieces of an amplitude distribution, preventing them from interacting with each other.
  • The So-Called Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle: Unlike classical physics, in quantum physics it is not possible to separate out a particle’s “position” from its “momentum”.  The evolution of the amplitude distribution over time, involves things like taking the second derivative in space and multiplying by i to get the first derivative in time.  The end result of this time evolution rule is that blobs of particle-presence appear to race around in physical space.  The notion of “an exact particular momentum” or “an exact particular position” is not something that can physically happen, it is a tool for analyzing amplitude distributions by taking them apart into a sum of simpler waves.  This uses the assumption and fact of linearity: the evolution of the whole wavefunction seems to always be the additive sum of the evolution of its pieces.  Using this tool, we can see that if you take apart the same distribution into a sum of positions and a sum of momenta, they cannot both be sharply concentrated at the same time.  When you “observe” a particle’s position, that is, decohere its positional distribution by making it interact with a sensor, you take its wave packet apart into two pieces; then the two pieces evolve differently.  The Heisenberg Principle definitely does not say that knowing about the particle, or consciously seeing it, will make the universe behave differently.
  • On Being Decoherent: When a sensor measures a particle whose amplitude distribution stretches over space – perhaps seeing if the particle is to the left or right of some dividing line – then the standard laws of quantum mechanics call for the sensor+particle system to evolve into a state of (particle left, sensor measures LEFT) + (particle right, sensor measures RIGHT).  But when we humans look at the sensor, it only seems to say “LEFT” or “RIGHT”, never a mixture like “LIGFT”.  This, of course, is because we ourselves are made of particles, and subject to the standard quantum laws that imply decoherence.  Under standard quantum laws, the final state is (particle left, sensor measures LEFT, human sees “LEFT”) + (particle right, sensor measures RIGHT, human sees “RIGHT”).
  • Decoherece is Pointless: There is no exact point at which decoherence suddenly happens.  All of quantum mechanics is continuous and differentiable, and decoherent processes are no exception to this.
  • The Born Probabilities:  The last serious mysterious question left in quantum physics:  When a quantum world splits in two, why do we seem to have a greater probability of ending up in the larger blob, exactly proportional to the integral of the squared modulus? It’s an open problem, but non-mysterious answers have been proposed. Try not to go funny in the head about it.
  • Decoherence as Projection: Since quantum evolution is linear and unitary, decoherence can be seen as projecting a wavefunction onto orthogonal subspaces.  This can be neatly illustrated using polarized photons and the angle of the polarized sheet that will absorb or transmit them.
  • Entangled Photons: Using our newly acquired understanding of photon polarizations, we see how to construct a quantum state of two photons in which, when you measure one of them, the person in the same world as you, will always find that the opposite photon has opposite quantum state.  This is not because any influence is transmitted; it is just decoherence that takes place in a very symmetrical way, as can readily be observed in our calculations.
  • Bell’s Theorem: No EPR “Reality”: Originally, the discoverers of quantum physics thought they had discovered an incomplete description of reality – that there was some deeper physical process they were missing, and this was why they couldn’t predict exactly the results of quantum experiments.  But Bell’s Theorem rules out any local deterministic physics with single unique outcomes.  The math of Bell’s Theorem is surprisingly simple, and we walk through it.
